Ann Deutermann: Studio Figure Eight

Ann Deutermann is an abstract and figurative painter who studied at the Washington Studio School in Washington, DC.  Her style has evolved through serendipitous discoveries and ‘happy accidents’. She uses rich textural surfaces with layers of paint and mixed media such as newsprint, cheesecloth, and sea glass to create her romantic inspirations of  the feminine spirit.

In “Lavender Thoughts” she uses shades of lavender as visual meditation. She comments: ” In this painting, to me, the figure looks like she’s lost in thought. The lavender atmosphere creates the world she’s inhabiting.”

The title of the shop is a play on words – the figure 8 denotes the feminine form and the number eight symbolizes eternity and unity. This synced with my goal to express something beyond the physical in my paintings – a spiritual energy that connects us to one other. I also hope that each piece will be something beautiful to live with, enjoy and feel inspired by.

Continuing with the theme of 8 and the idea that giving and receiving go hand in hand – 8% of all proceeds are donated to animal charities.
